I looked after my work. I wasn’t giving my eyes the same attention.
My name is Ricky, and I’m the founder of EyeGums.
Together with a leading UK Pharmaceutical company we have developed EyeGums. Our manufacturing facility operates under strict quality guidelines, holding ISO 9001, GMP, HACCP, Halal (HMC), and Kosher (KLBD) certifications.
Our supplier has also been an official NHS supplier of vitamins since 2010.
Here is my story and why I created EyeGums.
I was spending more than ten hours a day on my laptop. By the end of some days, my eyes felt strained, and I sometimes had headaches too. I had got so used to long hours in front of a screen that I barely stopped to think about what I was asking of my eyes.
Then my older brother mentioned that he had started wearing glasses around the age I was then. That conversation stayed with me. It made me realise how little thought I had given to looking after my eyes.
Why don’t we talk more about nutrition for our eyes?
That question sent me on a journey to understand the role nutrition plays in eye health.
We talk about creatine when we go to the gym. We explore focus supplements to help us get work done. We buy collagen in the hope of looking after our skin and hair. Yet everyday nutrition for our eyes rarely gets the same attention.
For so many of us, sight is one of the things we value most. It’s how we see the people we love, discover new places, read, work and enjoy the small moments that make up a day. I wanted looking after our eyes to feel like a natural part of our daily routine.
That’s where EyeGums began.
I started exploring research into eye nutrition and the ingredients studied in this area. The idea behind EyeGums was simple: bring carefully selected eye-health ingredients together in a daily gummy that people would actually look forward to taking.
Something easy to remember. Something that fits into a busy day. A small daily moment to give our eyes some thought.
EyeGums isn’t a promise that you won’t need glasses, or a replacement for eye examinations, a varied diet or taking breaks from screens. It’s about making eye nutrition part of the wider way we look after ourselves.
Your eyes are for more than screens.
For me, this has always been about more than getting through another working day. It’s about looking up from the laptop and being present for the people, places and moments on the other side of it.
That’s why we created EyeGums. Because something this important deserves a little attention every day.
